VR applications for the Center of History & Culture of Evrytania
The Image, Sound and Cultural Representation Lab of the Cultural Technology and Communication Department (University of the Aegean), in collaboration with the History and Cultural Centre of Evrytania participated in the creation of a series of Digital Productions. The project aimed at designing and producing a bilingual internet site also including digital exhibits, for the needs of the Centre. The digital exhibits designed and constructed through the project are analysed in a 3D video (projected on a 3D screen with the use of special glasses), two virtual reality applications for a fully immersive experience and a multi-interactive multimedia application. Digital applications aim at familiarizing users with the surroundings both through available multimedia and interactivity and also at integrating them into the geographical context of the wider area using texts, maps, narration and images. To accomplish this, accurate 3D representations were produced for the following historical events and architectural constructions: the Bridge of Manolis, the Church of Episkopi, which is immersed in the artificial Lake of Kremasta, and the battle of Kefalovriso. The museological – museographic study and overall curating of the exhibition was done by Iliana Zioga & Athanasios Athanasias who were also responsible for editing the applications’ scenario. The special constructions, graphic designs and effigies were created by www.pneuma.gr . The Region of Central Greece – Regional Unit of Evrytania was the responsible implementing agency
