During the 2010 decade the Image, Sound and Cultural Representation Lab (ISCRL) turned its interest and research gaze on topics and issues concerning a series of social situations (music, occupation, culture, migration, etc) which it approached, recorded and promoted through audiovisual productions (mainly documentaries). These productions and their themes are presented in more detail below.
“Janus’ Legacy. Refugee Passage to Europe”, 2016

A documentary recording the refugee flow in 2015 in the area of the North Aegean and more specifically to the passage to Lesvos which consists one of the main “entrance points” to Greece and therefore to “Europe” (i.e. the European Union). The documentary focuses on a first recording of the reasons urging refugees to take this desperate trajectory in search of alternative life choices, the hardships of transition and the adversities life in Greece entails both for refugees in 2015 and previous generations of migrants/ refugees. It has been presented in various film festivals in Greece (e.g. in Chalkida and Kalamata) and in public projections held abroad. In 2017 the documentary was awarded the Special Jury Award at the Los Angeles Greek Film Festival.
